Carbon Wasp Ltd is a UK based company specializing in the design and manufacture of custom carbon fibre bike frames, prototypes and parts. It has over 10 years' experience working with composites assisting with any stage of the design, testing and manufacture of one-off and low volume carbon fibre parts.

Carbon Wasp Ltd has been developing its working process for several years and a key part of that is utilizing of 3D printed moulds. The pre-preg carbon fibre is used for all their custom frame and parts. In order to take full advantage of pre-preg carbon fibre, it needs to use plastic that are strong enough to hold up against the large internal pressures while withstanding high temperatures of up to 100℃. Polycarbonate is an obvious choice of material. But Carbon Wasp had real difficulties finding a 3D printing polycarbonate filament that met their needs until they found PC-Plus™.

PC-Plus™ is strong, temperature resistant, but most importantly it prints very well. Their moulds can be large single pieces which take many hours to print, so reliability of printing is crucial for them. PC-Plus™ is easy to print, gives consistent results and doesn’t suffer most common issues with polycarbonate, such as excessive warping.
